O

riginally owned by Knuet Knuetson, this property in Snug Harbor was purchased by Peter C. Weart of Seattle, Washington. The main cottage was built in 1908 and additions to the original structure were completed by 1911. Mr. Weart passed away in 1927, leaving his property to his wife, Myrtle A. Weart. Ms. Weart favored the movement to establish Isle Royale as a National Park and sold outright. On November 18, 1938, the U.S. government acquired her property at a cost of $431.64. The main cottage, privy, and dock were removed following purchase.
